I have completely finished my blog!! I have produced a music video, two ancillary products and I am done.

How does your A2 blog compare with your AS in terms of detail and use of ICT?
Compared to last year I think I blogging went well at first, I do believe that I did slow down on my blogging post this year but I managed to quickly catch up on my missing blogpost which you see on my feedback on progress review. This year I definitely went into much more detail also I learnt how to present my ideas on many different apps such as Powtoon, Slideboom, emaze which helped me present my ideas in effective ways. If you go through my blog you can see journey of researching, planning and the production of all my work. I think that we were gaps in my blogging work in my research but I believe I managed to quickly catch up and not fall behind. I have managed to do 100 individual blog posts.

What would you change, given another opportunity?
If I was to be given another opportunity to re do my blog, I would try to stay on top of work instead completing my work after my progress reviews. I would also do extra research on my project. I would also plan more. I think the key to success would be plan! This is because if we wouldn't planned better we may have not needed to re do so many scenes.

This is my last post on this blog today, I have finally finished all my blogging tasks as well as produced a music video and an advertisement as well as a DigiPak. It was a stressful 5 months but worth it as I produced three types of media products which I am very proud of and I got to record the whole experience of this process on this blog.

In AS I would say it was much more calm and I was very up to date with my blog and I was very consistent in posting new blog every week I have found it difficult to keep up with blogging. My blog is A2 is in much more detailed than in AS and I have used a range of different ICT to present my work as in AS I remember my blog being full of writing and there was hardly a range of ICT.

My A2 blog is very detailed from research, planning and production and I have used photos and video to show evidence and support my work, even through I was not consistent in blogging I have done majority of the posts required for each section in research, planning and production as well as addition posts of my own especially during the research part of the process.

All together I produced 54 individual blog entries as I have 102 posts on my blog. Some of the gaps I have on my blog is during the planning on ancillary I have a post missing and a two posts missing in the planning for the production.

If I were to do this again I would make sure to keep being consistent when blogging and not fall behind then have to rush the posts in order to keep up, I would make sure to have a plan on when the posts should be done by and actually mark of each post on the blogging checklist as I stop doing this after I finished the research section.

This is feedback I received for my music video I used the feedback to reflect on what I could have done to make the video better

• Add some establishing shots so the audience know where the scene is being set rather than just limit the frame to the artists face
• Some of the shots could be re-shot with better lighting as they were quite dark

I believe I used the feedback we got for the rough cut very well as we improved our video a lot based on it.

My ancillary work received more compliments than criticism but I did receive some help from my teachers. They did remind me that I had left out some important features like: the codes and the copyright logo.

PLANNING ANCILLARY: Short list of fonts, colours, layout and design ideas.

Colours: Black, white and grey.
               Black white and red.

Fonts: Using the font Abadi MT in extra bold on the artist name which was used at the beginning of the music album to show the link between the album, advertisement and music video. For the album name either GeoSansLight which is similar to Adele's album title writing or American Type writer.

Layout: The artists name will be on the top to show the audience clearly who the new artist is, underneath it will be the album title. On the front panel there will be a picture of Shardonnay looking directly at the camera which would help the audience connect with the artist. On the second panel in the middle will be the track list which would have the same font as the album title.

Advertisement: the ad will be landscape and feature the the front cover of the digipak also have a picture of her face so it creates more awareness of the upcoming artist to the audience. Also it will clearly show the artist name. And have the same colour scheme as the digipak which would link them both together.

From my feedback I have completed more posts especially for my researching ancillary products and I have used other different ICT to present my work on the blog.
However, what I need to improve on is complete my empty posts such as Dos and Don'ts of Ancillary and check for any other posts missing as I realised I had a short lists of fonts, colours and layout post missing this is important as shows what I plan to do when it comes to the ancillary.

I also need to show more of my planning for ancillary as I have shown a lot of examples of other ancillary products which I have researched and taken ideas from and remain consistent at blogging more as I tend to blog most of my blog all at once and they keep piling up.


My aim is to complete all the planning ancillary posts and production of the ancillary and to have the digipak and advert up on the blog as Jpeg files by the end of next lesson.

Advertisement Evaluation

I started my advertisement on the second half of my double lesson, I carried on the theme of having black,white and grey. I used the same font that I used in the album cover however this time I changed the font colour to black.

The layout of the advert was different as I had the artist and album title at the top but in the middle and addition writing of the promoting the album and where the audience is able to buy the album side by side. However after showing my audience this, they said that in order for the main information such as the album title, the releasing date and artist name to be in a bigger size to grab the attention of the audience and the album and title name to be in the same placement as the album cover.

I also changed the placement of the album image and enlarged it and after listening to the feedback my audience said it should be placed under the album title. I also changed the layout of the releasing date and where the alum can be purchased so instead of being side by side as most people read from up to down instead of side by side. The formats in which the album is available on went at the bottom with the release date at the top as this was making people aware on when the album is available.

Process of making Ancillary

Half way through I got feedback on my advertisement on whether to have the digipak in the middle on advert or to the side, The feedback I got was that it looked better on the side as it looks much more suited as all the information was to the side. Also looking at Adele's advert where info was all on the side I decided to have it on the side aswell since its conventional.

I have chosen to use this picture as she is looking directly at the camera this would engage the audience this is what is typical for new artist as Goodwin's theory explains because it is connecting with the audience and making the audience involved. She is wearing white as it links to the black and white theme I will be having. It also links to our music video because the clothing theme was also black and white. We have chosen to shoot in the studio because we wanted a plain background to work on in Photoshop (using magic wand), it would also look more professional and sophisticated feel.

This is the cover of my album. It is not completely finished and has a few finishing touches that need to be added. I have decided to add the roses to my cover. This was an idea that I was contemplating on as I though it wouldn't look good however my peers have told me it works well with the black and white theme I have. I have had to change the name of my album to match the pictures of the roses.

As I had converted my image to black and white and have a grey background it was important for the name of the artist and album title to stand out as we are trying to sell a new artist into the industry as this is one of the functions the placement of both title was important, I tried three different ways and asked members in my class on their thoughts on which would be suitable.

In the end I decided to go with the third image as this was voted the most as it had the name of the artist and title as they both stood out and the image of the artist was very clear which is another function as the other two choices the title of the album cover was very small or the title was not very clear to see on the.

Advert ideas

I took these pictures of posters in a train station. This is how I would advertise my posters as my target audience would see the advert all the time just like I do. I think it is effective as when passengers are moving slowly in the station due to congestion it gives them something to look at.

Costume for Ancillary

In our music video our artist wears clothing that is black and white only. Therefore we have decided to carry this theme on with the Ancillary work. Our main option is to make her wear white blouses so we have can have a black background. Many soul artists wear simple clothing in their album covers  like Beyonce or Emeli sande so we will also do this.

I used the picture of Shardonnay looking straight at the camera for my front panel and the picture of Shardonnay sitting down in my inside panel. I wanted to use the picture of shardonnay looking away from the camera but I found it difficult to cut the picture around her hair.

Ancilary Design Part 1

Today was the first lesson we started designing our album cover for our new artist, when we were designing the cover we had to be careful when it came to importing the image on the front cover. We could not move the image as this could cause the image to stretch and this would not do as the original image sixe would change and the image would be stretched out.

 

As my background is a grey colour and I have a theme of black, white and grey, once I converted the image to black and white I then had to erase some of the artist hair in the image to have a smooth background, I also had to convert the title of the artist name to from black to white in order it to stand out as we are trying to sell the artist the name is one of the important factors.

 

By next lesson I hope to have finished the two front panels and include all the information of the record label and artist website as well as the logo of copyright, record label and barcode and to have started the inside panels and advertisement.
