Pitch Feedback
After we presented our pitch one of the many question that came up was confusion about who our target audience is because we all had different ages. So we all decided to finalize our target audience and make it 17-30.
Other questions that came up was how we were going to film at granary square when its usually crowded and also as they are many lights it may not good on camera. So we decided to go to granary square and test out how we going to film we found that if we filmed just after the lights go on it would look fine but we also found that we could use the lighting and project it onto her face and we could easily see her and the lights didn't look bad on camera.
Another question we got asked how were going to film in cable carts because it is high up and could be quite dangerous. We found that the cable carts were quite spacious and easy to film in as we could have a cart to ourselves.
Things that well in our pitch were that we had a clear and precise plan, our animatic showed exactly how were going to film and was also very clear. Also, some feedback we recieved said that we had to good artistic link and we had good use of synergy which was the black and white theme between the music video and album cover.

Tuesday 28th October 2014 Filming and VLOG
On Tuesday we meet up at Angel then went to Hampstead Heath Park, to film at the gazebo and tunnel scene for the video, when we got there we had to walk for an hour to get to the location. Once we got there we could not find the gazebo and the tunnel had tons of vine wrapped around it which made it very dark and we could not film as it was too dark and we did not bring extra lighting.
So we then found a secluded spot at Hampstead, where there was only a stone statue we decided Shardonnay was going to walk around the statue and the camera would be tracking her movement in 360. We then looked back at the footage and decided that where we were filming did not go with the rest of the locations as the other location were iconic places such as the Cable Cars and Granary Square. So we decided we were going to film at Thames Path where you can see the O2 and from the cable cars you can see the O2 which links together.

Evaluation from Pitch Feedback
Evaluation from Pitch Feedback
On Thursdays lesson our group was the last group to present our pitch to the class. The pitch went well for us as the class said they were very clear on what music video we were going to be filming and the synergy was was very clear on having a black and white colour theme which will be shown through the costumes worn in the music video and through the ancillary and digipak.
However, looking back at our audience feedback sheet we had questions such as 'How will you film your artist singing in Granary Square where there is so much lighting?' Well we went to visit the location before we filmed and came to the conclusion that we would start filming as soon as the lights come on as it is not that dark and the lights can be seen as well as the artist singing. We also decided to take extra lights when we are filming so the artist has extra light on them so she can be seen clearly in the video.
We also had the questions such as 'Who is our target audience?' We all had very different answers to who our target audience is in our pitch so we then came to a conclusion that are target audience was 17-30. We thought this was suitable as people in this age range have been or know what it is like to be in a relationship or have been through a heartbreak.
Our other question was 'How will we be filming in the Cable Cars?' and 'Do we have permission to film?' As the Cable Cars are very slow it will not be a problem when filming and as far as do we have permission we looked on the website on the Emirates Air Line and there was no restriction that we cannot film.
Overall, my group and I were very happy on the feedback received and the questions asked regarding our pitch and the music video we had chosen.

skills audit
This year we will be taking the cameras out for filming therefore we will need to plan where we are going, how we are going and when we are going somewhere for filming.
To do this we communicated through 'watsapp' and texting. I myself prepared my timetable to ensure that my blogging will be up to date as well as my work for my music video.

Synergy
The one key visual element which we will be using to link the promotional video with the digipak and advertisement will be the use of colour. We have chosen a black and white colour theme.
The black and white theme will be shown through the costumes in the music video where the artist will be seen wearing mostly black jeans and jackets as well as black and white t-shirts.
For the digipak and advertisement we will have black and white background on the album cover as well as black front for the title of the album and the main image used on the album cover will feature one of the outfits worn in the video for example a the scene where she is in a leather jacket, there will be a close up of her on the cover of her wearing the leather jacket.

The single leather jacket on the hook symbolises her being independent and the jacket will be black and the background will be white to match our black and white theme. I may decide to change this as it is quite unconventional

Skills Audit
During my research for teen movies and TV dramas last year I found it difficult to find exactly what I was looking for because I wasn't really looking in the right places. I limited myself to finding my information on 'Wiki' and found I was just copying and pasting masses of information. So this year I tried to do my research more efficiently by looking at previous students work and building my knowledge up on that. I also looked at magazines and watched videos rather than just reading from the internet. I found this to be a better way to research. Further more I have spent more time in the workshops that my teachers provide at lunch time so I could use their knowledge.
RESEARCH - Skills Audit
Compared to my AS practical work my research skills have improved a lot. As last year I didn't research much and blog about it but this year I have conducted all the my research such as the functions of a music video, all the theories, costume and locations. We have thought about locations and costume and the style we are going for our artist in our music video.
RESEARCH- Brand identities in Cross Media Products
Ariana Grande
In Ariana's album 'My Everything' she has a colour theme of black and white and hint of pink. In her other album 'Your's Truly' she has a black and white theme also so this may mean that these colours are associated with her. In her single for the album 'Problem' there is obvious theme of black and white and pink. The clothing worn by Ariana Grande herself and Iggy Azalea and the dancers are all the black white. Also, the key features in the video are the special effects of the black and white swirls and lines and bursts of pink. These features are also shown in the lyric video and the teaser this shows that it is used to create brand identity.

The Artist/Perfromer
The Lyrics for The Music Video
He's out your system, yeah it took you a while
You got your family back and you got your smile
And you promised your sister that you'd never go back again
But friends keep telling you what he did last night
How many girls he kissed, how many he liked
And you try to remember that there's no way you could ever be friends
But now you're
You're looking like you really like him, like him
And now you're feeling like you miss him, miss him
You're speaking like you really love him, love him
And now you're dancing like you need him, need him
Put it in your pocket, don't tell anyone I gave ya
It will be the one you run to, the one that saves ya
It could be your daddy daddy, if you take it gladly gladly
Daddy daddy
He kissed you on the lips and opened your eyes
You had to catch your breath, got such a surprise
And you almost forgot how it feels to live in his lie
He pulled you closer, said he'll never let go
You couldn't trust him, but you never said no
In that moment we may just forget how it feels when he's gone
But now you're
You're looking like you really like him, like him
And now you're feeling like you miss him, miss him
You're speaking like you really love him, love him
And now you're dancing like you need him, need him
Put it in your pocket, don't tell anyone I gave ya

Performers Responsibility
The performer has been learning the lyrics to the song, it has not been that hard because the beat in the music is quite easy to follow, and the lyrics in the song are quite repetitive, so it's not that hard to forget. Hopefully the performer will be good enough to not stop singing through the song and also not look at the lyrics that much.

Final Song Choice
Emile Sande - Daddy
We have chosen this song because it is soulful and has a deep meaning.
It is also practical to film in the winter as it is sad and the lyrics can be linked to the loss of someone or a break up.

research - Meghan Trainor
Artist: Meghan Trainor
Meghan Trainors album is called 'Titles' and it will be released in 2015. Synergy is seen through the links between her album cover and her music videos; 'All about that base' and 'Lips are movin'.The album uses vibrant colours which will mainly attract a female audience which, presumably, is the audience she wants to attract.
The fur jacket she is wearing is white but editing has been used to add other colours to the image. Light, pastel and brighter shades like hot pink, Purple, light blue and yellow have been added to add to the light hearted feel. The artist is smiling playfully this is to ensure the audience that the songs will be up beat, and happy.
the name of her album and her name are clearly visible and the font is simple and bright.
.
The cover to 'Lips are movin' is a little bit contrasting as the song is loud and colourful but the colours used are mainly black and white however pink is used which links back to her theme.

Analysis of brand identities in cross media products
Name of Artist: Alesha Dixon
Album Cover Name: The Alesha Show
Key Features Highlighted
Music Video Single: The Boy Does Nothing
Key Features Highlighted
- In the video she is dancing on stage
- There are a lot people in the video
- The colour scheme is similar to the album cover and single cover
- The camera is mostly on her in the video
Brand Identity
Brand identity is created by Alesha performing throughout her music video and it looks like shes about to move on her album cover also. The colour scheme is key because actual stage shows have gold and red colour schemes like she does on her album cover and in the music video. The album is called The Alesha Show because she is telling a story that us very emotive through all her songs on the album and this can attract attention from a female audience.
Cross Media Products and Synergy
Cross Media and Synergy
In todays lesson we looked at two different music artists and how cross media and synergy are used to advertise their music video and album. In pairs me and my partner first looked at 'Wretch 32'-Black and White and 'Labrinth'- Electronic Earth.
In Wretch 32 the font used is associated with Wretch as he uses that same font in his other albums. The colour scheme is black and white this is shown also in the music single 'Don't Go.' The colour theme is also continued in a Magazine advertisement. In the main video the colour theme is also shown as the extras are seen wearing black and white clothing. This shows that the cross media of the album cover and music video all link together.
The other artist we looked at was Labrinth-'Electronic Earth. The font used is associated with Labrinth as he uses this font in his other albums. The key feature on this album was the colour theme was black and blue as well has red and orange. Another feature we find which is associated with him is he wears sunglasses this prop is also associated with Labrinth. In the album Electronic Earth the single is 'Let the sun shine' the colours shown in the album cover are also shown in the music video with the electric blue/green/ black and the the bright red/orange/yellow.
We then went off individually and looked at other artist who have synergy such as One Direction on their album Take Me Home the font used for the album is associated with all One Directions other albums. The colour theme of the album and music video link together as the boys are seen wearing the same vintage clothing in the cover as well as in the music video. The colour theme also links together with the dark clothing and bright background.

So far I have just about been able to keep up with the blog, however in the beginning I was unable to as I had issues with my laptop. Last year I was up to date with all my blogs and was able to finish each blog given before the next lesson. However I am now up to date with my blogs this year, I also think compared to last I have used a range of different ICT platforms to present my work then just doing new posts each time and there is more detail in my blog then last year. I would rate myself 14/20 now with my blog including the different ICT and detail of each blog.
One thing I would improve on is being more organised when it comes to the blog and trying to finish each blog before the next lesson and also keeping up to date with the blog.
Another thing I would improve on is using more of the lunch time clubs for media for when it comes to doing individual and group blogging.

Looking back at my AS practical work the research was very different as in AS we done teen movies and had to research stereotypical characters however in A2 we are more focused on one genre which in a way has made the research easier however more thinking process has gone into A2 research. For example in AS we knew that the target audience was teenagers ranging from young teens to older teens, in A2 however we need to have a precise target audience but also how we will target other audiences.
My research skills have developed from AS as the research in A2 is more in detail and in depth, the research in A2 is more important to have as in AS we were able to improvise but in A2 we are not able to do that. Also having done very detailed research then helps with the planning as we have a goal and a vision of how we want our music video to be.
Also for the research I have been using many different ICT platforms to present my work which in AS I did not use as much and this has helped my research be clear to the reader on what my thoughts/ideas/views are.

research - Travis Garland
Name of artist: Travis garland
Album cover name: Travis Garland
- The album has a picture of Travis Garlands face. It is the side of his face and it specifically shows the side that has white highlights in hair.
- his beard is shown, his black vest and his black stud in his ear
- The font of the album name is recognisable as he also used this font for his later album 'Clouds'
- White Background creates simplicity
Music Video Single: Motel Pool
- The name of the Album is in the beginning of the video to show what album it comes from
- He is also wearing black in the video with the back stud and the highlight in hair to refer back to the album
- The video had a lot of filters like hazy colours and LED lights this made the video look laid back and matched the feelings of being in a desert which is where the first scenes are set.
- One of the base tracks is in a 'motel pool' this is to match the name of the song and the lyrics

Wretch 32
Me and Arifa looked at Wretch 32- Black and White and Labrinth - Electronic Earth. The main theme in Wretch 32 album cover, his advert, promo video and his video single is black and white. The key features that we could see across all 4 products was the font it was the same in all of them, the colour scheme. Also in the music video of 'Don't go' there was also the black colour scheme as all the people featured in the video were wearing black and white. Also throughout the video there are scenes of people infront of white wall with black drawings behind them this ties in with black and white theme.

Labrinth
We also looked at Labrinth - Electronic earth. His colour scheme is quite dark but with bursts of bright colours in his sunglasses. Also the font is associated with him as its same for his other albums. Also we found that in his other albums he is always wearing glasses this shows that glasses are associated with him. In the music video is is generally quite dark as in the beginning the light does dark on him but theres a contrast between the dark colour scheme and then the sudden bursts of bright colours and the bright colours come out in the chorus. Also the colours in his glasses are the the bright colours that are in the video as theres a lot red blue and yellow like in the album cover. So overall the features that can be seen across all 4 products which create brand identity are font, glasses, dark colour scheme.

Evaluation for Lip Synching Task
Evaluation for Lip Synching Task
For our lip synching task we were given a choice of two songs. My group chose Delilah- Never Be Another. We had a double lesson to go and film 50 seconds of the song. Before we set out to film we were told we needed to have at least four different base tracks however due to time limit we were only able to have three base tracks. We were also told we needed to have different shot types and the camera should always be moving/tracking at all times.
During editing we found it very hard to edit as we only had three base tracks we did not have enough so we had to constantly repeat the same scenes over again. We also after putting in the beats and marking we then realised that the first 5 seconds of the song it is just the melody playing so we decided to do slow motion. Once we changed the scene to slow motion everything else then became out of synch so this was a technical problem which we were then abled to fix lucky. This is also a reminder for when we do our final music video to do the slow motion before the marking and adding the beats.
Looking back at our footage we were very happy with the close up of the performer and the lip synch was in time with the music. We also managed to film the first 50 seconds of the song. However there were many moments were the camera was very static and not moving at all so this will be another thing to remember for our final music video to keep the camera moving while the artist moves as well. Overall me and my group were very happy with the final outcome.
